Source: Eskom&lt;/span><p>Eskom on Friday launched the largest Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Africa, marking a significant stride in the continent's energy sector. The Hex BESS site, located in Worcester, is the first completed project under Eskom's flagship BESS initiative, announced in July 2022. This initiative is a direct response to the urgent need to address South Africa's long-standing electricity crisis and aims to bolster the national electricity grid and diversify the existing energy mix.
